Mondays Don't Have To Suck: How To Avoid Monday Meltdowns

Mondays generally suck for a number of reasons. The first two reasons that come to mind are (1) it's no longer the weekend and (2) it means a return to the corporate grind for a large portion of the population.  Here are my top  five ways to shake off those Monday Blues.

5). Always Dress Up on Mondays
When you look good, you feel good.  So go ahead, pull out that new outfit and killer stilettos and sashay down the hall. And remember, your heel can also be used as a weapon in meetings (not that I support violence...ummm, yeah, so on to number 4).

4). Avoid Meetings
Whenever possible, avoid scheduling important meetings on Mondays, especially Monday mornings.  Most people need the day to catch up and map out the week.  No one is happy on a Monday, so why subject yourself to yet another meeting or conference call...better to reschedule for Tuesday. Everyone will thank you.  Guaranteed.

3). Liquid Crack
Develop a coffee habit.  Drink large quantities of coffee---caffeine soothes the soul.  Don't drink coffee?  Start. The addiction will make you forget it's Monday.

4). Hide
Become a hermit.  Avoid people at all costs.  Your co-workers will most likely ask you intrusive questions like, "how was your weekend?" which will force you to recount all the great times you had over the weekend, serving as a painful reminder that the fun times were over the minute your alarm clock went off.

And last but not least...

5). Denial
If all else fails, denial works.  Simply pretend it isn't Monday.  Develop a case of selective amnesia and operate as if it is actually Tuesday.  It'll help, promise.
