I'm going NUCLEAR and Getting AMPED! NOR CD Release Party In NYC

I am attending and organizing this event for my clients: Make it Happen Entertainment and Nuclear O'Reilly.  Can't wait to be back in NYC for this:-)  The info is below, please join me if you'll be in the city at the same time as me...And of course, this is also a benefit for Amped 4-A-Cure, Inc.!  Get Amped!

First, Nuclear O'Reilly created the world's first commercially available, full-length album made solely on an iPhone. Now, come hear what they did with instruments and recording equipment.

Jared DiDomenico & Brad Naprixas, the two visionary music producers/artists who comprise Nuclear O'Reilly, have re-imagined notable songs from Alicia Keys, David Bowie, The Streets, Erykah Badu and more. They created entirely new songs from the ...ground up, only keeping the artists' original vocals.

The project gives a taste of the different genres Nuclear O. can work in and make their own, from electronic/dance to soul and r&b to alternative to rock to hip hop.

Come listen to the music, celebrate, eat, drink, and watch live painters create art in front of your eyes.

Our charity partner is Amped 4-A-Cure, Inc. This organization supports cancer research through music, an important cause to Nuclear O'Reilly and their team.

Speaking of the team, this night is brought to you by premier NYC-based artist managers Make It Happen Entertainment, Inc, and the JSW Media Group.

Nuclear O'Reilly, Make It Happen Entertainment, and JSW all invite you to revel in what will be an eclectic and inspiring evening.

All About the Men

Truly, there is nothing I enjoy more than being surrounded by professional men of all ethnicities who appreciate fashion, embrace an entrepreneurial spirit (not too mention good ole common sense thrown in for flavor), have impeccable taste, are socially aware and have a keen sense of personal style.  These are the guys I love to flirt with at parties.  So, in an effort to let these fellas know just how special they are, Charlotte STYLE teamed up with JSW & Crave Dessert Bar for The STYLE Suite: Men's Appreciation Event.  During the evening, men in the Charlotte area will have the opportunity to be pampered...Why?  Because we can...and we like you (at least I know I do).

The event is hosted by the beautiful and talented Kelly Hood, and will feature a fashion showcase, desserts, giveaways, complimentary massages and MANicures.

Fellas, let us take care of you.  Come on out Thursday, June 24th from 6pm-10pm.  Guys, come have a nice relaxing evening and let us cater to you.  Ladies- I wouldn't miss it. This event is free...and it is truly ALL about the men!  I'm excited to get my flirt on...are you with me?

Blessed Beyond Measure

It's been nonstop since February, and I simply can't believe it is deep into April, and almost May already.  I'll be celebrating 34 years of life on Monday...simply amazing how time flies.  Nothing big planned for the birthday...weekend jaunt to Chicago, following by breakfast/brunch on Monday (the actual born day) with a friend, followed by some "me" time, perhaps the spa (not sure of exact plans yet)...Celebrating with a mid-week bday party at Luna Lounge during Pop Life with fellow Diva and birthday girl Ife Moore (she celebrates on April 27th)...and a private dinner party with the girls on Friday night (K-we have to make sure we invite all the usual suspects). So, hmmm, looks like I will be celebrating for a solid week, wasn't expecting that--but God is Good, no AMAZING:-).

This past weekend was jam packed but spectacular nonetheless.  Mom celebrated her 60th birthday on April 16th.  We turned off our cell phones and hit the town.  Dinner, movies, a total girls night out.  I even kept my Mom out after midnight, we truly painted the town red (well maybe more like pink, Mom is a minster after all). What's most important is that she enjoyed herself, and we enjoyed spending time with each other.

Other big news of the weekend of course was the Charlotte STYLE Magazine 25 Most Stylish Event for the American Heart Association and the release of its very first print issue...and it's so hot.  I could not be more proud of Brie (Mrs. Bridgette West, publisher of Charlotte STYLE Magazine for those of you don't know).  She did her thing with this issue, and I am just happy that she thought enough of my team's talent and abilities to hire JSW Media Group as her PR Firm. Another win of course was that client and good friend T.Strong made the cover.  Woo Hoo!

Since it was a fashionable event, I had to go all out, so I'm wearing a one shoulder Calvin Klein number, hair styling is courtesy of Mom and my FIERCE make-up is by non other than Joy Randall of Flawless Make Up Art.  She always makes sure I look like a mil when I step out on the scene.  I'm pictured with one of my fav Charlotte male models, Mike Press. What can I say: I'm blessed.

"Creativity is a Drug I can't live without"

Oh What A Night! Well, weekend…

Clearly I am WAY behind on blog updates. Ridiculous, I know, but I’m trying. Really, I am. Needless to say, it has been a pretty darn busy fall. Now that it is official winter (well in a week or so), I can breathe a little and finish my strategic planning for 2010. If you thought that 2009 was busy for JSW Media Group, theFASHION HOUSE and Amped 4-A-Cure, then 2010 is going to simply blow your mind. (photo by Natasha Land from the Red Pump/Red Tie Affair Dec. 1st)

One would think that after conceptualizing, planning and executing one of the most fun holiday parties (The Red Pump/Red Tie Affair, click here for photos), I would have time to just “be.” No sir, not in this lifetime. But I can’t complain; as I have stated time and time again, I love what I do—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I mean, who really needs more than four hours of sleep a night? Sleeping until 8 a.m. feels like a vacation considering I’m up grinding most mornings at 6 a.m. (unless, of course, that is when I’m finally able to call it a night).

Anyway, enough of my lament, here is what’s on tap for the weekend:

Tonight, I will be attending Uptown Magazine’s “Passport to Luxury” event at Southpark Mall. Totally excited that 5th and York will be performing. They always do a great job, so that will be fun. I may event take the time to relax a little. Who knows? LOL.

Tomorrow (Friday): I will probably make a couple of stops- On the Roxx in Ballantyne being one of them to support an after work networking event sponsored by Digital Divas. No cover, great people, always fun, plus it is near the day job. It’ll be an official girls’ night because I will most likely go with some of the chicas from the office. Not sure if I am in the “stay out all night and party mood” esp. since Saturday will be fairly busy.

Saturday: Big day indeed. Meetings in the morning and appointments in the afternoon (I will attempt to throw in some Christmas shopping as well). Then there is an Amped sponsored event that night--The Queen City Awards. That should be really interested and Amped 4-A-Cure is getting a portion of proceeds from the event. Using music for a cause—gotta love it!

Sunday: Mom is preaching for 4th Sunday fellowship at Faith, Hope and Love Fellowship Worship Center. Her service begins at 3 p.m. and usually lasts about an hour. Hit me up if you would like to attend. My mother is a powerful and passionate speaker.

So that’s my weekend in a nutshell. If you call and I don’t answer, I’m probably busyJ

On a completely unrelated note, I am confused about foursquare, I’m on it but not quite sure what I am doing. I am determined to master it though. Please let me know if you have any insight, I’m clueless at the moment.

Until Next Time…Peace & Blessings!

"Creativity is a Drug I can't live without"

Prayers Answered…

I haven’t blogged lately…the reason? I have TOO much to say. With all of the happenings of late, there is just too much for me to discuss. Do I start with the fabulous Charlotte STYLE Magazine issue release party by the pool of the luxurious Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge…or the incredible NABFEME Charlotte/Amped 4-A-Cure Women Who Jam! concert …perhaps I discuss where I was and what I was doing when I got the tweet that The King of Pop was dead…and of course the shocking circumstances surrounding the murders of both Steve McNair and Arturo Gatti (crimes of passion on the rise?). It’s been a riveting, traumatic, exhausting and emotionally turbulent past 30 days. But hey, I’m still standing—with a smile.

As far as my clients go, I could not be happier.

Author/Poet Onika Pascal did her first feature and book signing in Brooklyn on June 29th, and according to my sources, worked magic on the crowd. As I mentioned earlier, Bridgette Wright, publisher/editorial director of Charlotte STYLE Magazine debuted the new cover of the summer issue at the magazine’s summer soiree, with all the bells and whistles (fashion show produced by theFASHION HOUSE with designer swimwear and jewelry sponsored by Tiffany & Co.). The soiree was also a resounding “success” as a fundraiser for Dress For Success Charlotte. 5th and York’s debut album release party for their latest project “Nascentum” was on June 20th and I have to say, my boys ROCKED the house. Special shout to Mr. Montayne Farrar for making the trip up all the way up from Atlanta to support us. I’m always appreciative of support when it comes. The planning for the Charlotte Literary Festival as well as the ongoing Change Event Series has been phenomenal. So far we have had appearances from Nikki Giovanni, Dr. Cornel West and Dick Gregory—all living legends in their own right. Also, my other clients are definitely making moves, most of which are top secret at the moment…HOPEFULLY they will give me the green light soon to be able to share what they have been up to.

On a personal note, things have been just as hectic and wonderful.

The women’s ministry of my church, Faith, Hope & Love Fellowship Worship Center organized our first “Legacy of Love” Celebration in remembrance of Pastor Carolyn Tyson-Colbert’s life. I even performed a dance solo that I choreographed myself to honor her memory. Apparently I did a good job because they want me to dance again…yeah, not sure about that one. I’m still sore; there may not be an encore performance, but we shall see—just don’t hold your breath.

My twin siblings, Angel and Akeem turn 21 on July 30th. Whoa is all I can say. I still remember them both crawling around wearing matching onesies barely able to pronounce “Meek Meek.” (OMG- did I just throw myself under the bus by sharing one of my family’s nicknames for me…great). I am planning the big blowout party of course. Should be fun, at least that is the goal.

Dealing with Father’s Day and Daddy’s birthday (July 3rd) was a HUGE reminder that Pop’s is no longer here in the physical realm. It does make me sad to know that I will never again get one of those big bear hugs or kisses on the forehead…or hearing Daddy’s incredibly bad jokes…or better yet, being lectured at length on entrepreneurship and how to continue to build my business model (not to mention the hour long discussions about marketing, advertising and investments). Daddy was challenging…he was cool…he was unique...he was far from perfect, but he was mine. It’s interesting that it takes his passing to realize that I was such a Daddy’s girl…hindsight is something, ain’t it?

I always try to pray for my friends and family on a daily basis. 1) Because I would want someone to care enough to pray for me and 2) I just love the people in my life so much that I want them to experience the intense joy that having God in my life has afforded me. Pray can ensure that…After my father died in February 2008, I prayed. I specifically asked God for one thing in particular…Out of all of my friends, clients and associates, please remove those individuals who are not supposed to be in my life and replace them with the people who are supposed to be there. My prayers were answered by the summer. I have no regrets, and I still love those unconditionally who are no longer in my life, but if my father’s death taught me one thing…I don’t have time to play around. Life, Love and Living is too important not to make the most out of each moment, every day.

I still have a lot going on and even more to say, but that will have to wait until another day.

Power Struggle

I don't do sick well...I am NOT a good sick person. I'm often standoffish and beligerent when coughing, sneezing and experiencing all of the lovely cold and flu like symptons that accompany this time of year, welcome to spring ladies and gentlemen. . I'm, also, almost always in denial when I am under the weather; denial you ask? Basically, I have been sick for three days; however, I just accepted and acknowledged that I was actually ill after being forciable awaken at approximately 3:09 a.m. from the most hideous sinus headache that I have ever had the misfortune to experience. So, yeah, maybe I'm sick--I'll accept that (smh, talk about stubborn, I feel sorry for my future husband, lol).

Yet I march on...

But enough about my body aches, runny nose and stuffy head (sexy image right fellas). The last two weeks have been phenomenal both personally and professionally:

Professionally speaking:

All the events for CIAA were not only successful but just plain fun. Click below to see photos from all three events. Big ups to Marlon & Kenny from NC Image Zone for capturing everything on film (well digital)

Paparazzi Friday (2/27)- check back for photos

A huge congrats for hometown favs Johnson C. Smith University for claiming both the mens and womens championship titles for the tourney. Go Golden Bulls!

Special Thanks to everyone, including all of our sponsors who really pulled together to make everything a resounding sucess. But a big hug goes out to the fam: Dany, Ciara, Elise, Ayanna, Rocky, Jonell, Haleigh, Xavier, Tasha, Will, Marlon, Kenny and Nicole for just being supportive and getting the work done without hesitation...Love y'all.

Personally Speaking:

I love my sisters. Three of the four "Cherry" girls got the chance to hang out last week. Angel even helped out at the fashion show with makeup (love having talented siblings). Here is a pic from the festivities

Spring In My Step

I realize that it is February, but it is hard to remember that significant detail when it is so incredibly gorgeous outside. The weather is phenomenal in Charlotte, NC--I love my hometown. This spring preview is making me smile with excitement of what the world has to offer...Ever since Fashion Friday launched and JSW Media Group has solidified its staff, I have been busier than ever, but strangely less stressed out than I have been in the past. I guess that is what happens when everything is finally "right."

So my weekends now officially begin on Thursdays, so this is how it went down last week:

Thursday: Fashion Friday Launch Party. View photos here

Friday: Stayed home to recover from the craziness of the Fashion Friday Launch. And most importantly, I was able to catch up with my friends from college (Love you Christopher)

Saturday: Weekly JSW Team Meeting: gearing up for the rest of the quarter and of course CIAA, yeah baby!. Worked on a few projects for church, and had dinner with Mom. Always fun.

Sunday: Church was awesome as usual. Then I got the chance to hang out with Ms. Joy Randall (Flawless Make Up Art) at Mez. Cool spot, and everyone was super friendly.

Anyway, I hope you have all had the opportunity to check out the new site, www.fashion-friday.com. Big ups to our Creative Director (and overall coolest dude on the planet) Xavier Grier for designing such a wonderful site. It feels good when a plan comes together the way that it is supposed to. If you are looking for something great to do this Thursday, check out "The Movement"...music, dance, art---soulful house music all night long. dj rsenal and Johnnie Davis will keep the beats going all night, and we will even have a friendly dj competition, so this is a night you don't want to miss. Come out, support, chill and have a great time. KISS Lounge is the spot...doors open at 10 p.m. Come through.

So check out the website, and let me know what you think. Photos coming soon. For now, here is a sneak pic, courtesy of photographer Shako Oteka of OtekaFoto.

Next Event: Fashion Friday "Go-See" on February 19th @ KISS Lounge. Looking for models for our March 27th show featuring Christian Audigier as well as some other projects.

JSW Media Group

So in an effort to make my life easier, I have created a blog that is specifically for company news only. It's still under construction, but Check it out each day for happenings, news and events. JSW Pulse

This blog will continue to be my creative outlet to the world. Also, on an unrelated note, RIP HOM Nightclub...one of my favorite spots has closed its doors...sad.

DUCK!!!!!

I don’t mean to make light of America’s image in the international arena, but the video of Dubya dodging that first shoe had me cracking up…I mean I was laughing out loud. Funny but so sad, because truly prior to Election Day 2008, that is how most of the international community felt about the US…Thank God, there is a renewal of sorts, President Elect Obama’s presence has done wonders for our image…talk about some phenomenal pr!

I’m super excited about tonight’s festivities...I have been fortunately enough to work on the team bringing Dr. Cornel West to Charlotte tonight for a lecture/book signing/overall cool event that starts at 7 pm. We are at capacity, so I hope people got their tickets early or they will be standing. There are zero seats left. It’s been a blessing coordinating the media relations, and getting the pr set in stone. This is what it is all about after all. This is just the first event in a series of speaker events spearheaded by the Charlotte Literary Festival and Realeyes Books. Nikki Giovanni will be here on Feb 20th, so I would suggest getting your tickets now. Promoting literacy is where it is at…

Later on, I will make a brief appearance at the Queen City Music awards. JSW Media Group is one of the sponsors, and I have to show love to Kevan Glover and the rest of the Talk of NC crew.

This week I will try to get some photos posted from my activities last week. Special Thank You to all who came to support Charlotte’s 1st Urban Street Soccer Fest and to all the beautiful poets who made the individual World Poetry Slam competition a true success.
That’s it for now…
Peace & Blessings

Almost forgot… http://www.thesource.com/2008/12/eminem-and-dre-reunite-on-relapse/ I am actually looking forward to hearing this…Em and Dre were a magic combo, it’ll be interesting to see if they can do it again.
